About the course

Overview

User experience (UX) design, traditionally the role of a UX specialist, is becoming part of the modern BA’s toolkit – particularly in today’s digital agile world. Usability is key to attracting and keeping customers. For internal systems improved usability ensures efficiency, increases job satisfaction and reduces errors.

Traditional business analysis courses focus on requirements and often ignore many UX techniques such as personas, information architectures, task models, user journeys, and wireframing. Traditional UX courses ignore the integration of UX into the BA and systems lifecycles. Our course assumes a basic knowledge of business analysis work but extends that so business analysts can collaborate better with UX specialists and can add the UX techniques to their toolkit; thereby developing more useable solutions for all stakeholders.

You will learn how to:

  • Convince others of the importance of user-centered approaches
  • Integrate UX approaches with waterfall and agile solutions development
  • Apply basic psychological concepts affecting users
  • Create personas
  • Create models of the user’s world (task, mental, and contextual inquiry models)
  • Define information architectures and site maps
  • Create user journeys
  • Apply interaction design principles to build wireframes and prototypes
  • Apply effective visual design principles
  • Consider mobile, tablet and desktop design issues
  • Design, plan and execute usability tests and other evaluations

Who is this course for?

Business analysts who need to:

  • improve their collaboration with UX specialists
  • understand and deliver the right solutions to usability problems

This course is aimed mainly at business analysts so basic knowledge of business analysis work would be useful.

No prior user experience knowledge is mandatory.
