About the course

Overview

This 3-day Scrum course is designed to give a full view of Scrum and Agile Product Development. By the end of the course, delegates will be ready to take the exam for both Scrum Product Owner Certification and Scrum Master Certification.

Delegates will understand the Scrum framework and how it can be applied to projects, understand the role of the Product Owner and that of a Scrum Master.

Day 1 & 2

  • Introduces Agile and the Scrum framework to give a foundation for days 1 & 2
  • Focuses on the Product Owner role, including the strategic aspects of the role not covered in the Scrum guide
  • Starts a series of team exercises to conceive a product from the initial Vision through to a Product Backlog and Release Plan

Day 3

  • Concentrates on the Scrum Master role, the practical aspects of enabling the Scrum process, quality and facilitation
  • You will learn through instruction and team-based exercises and will be challenged to think, as part of a Team, to better understand what to do when you return to your workplaces.

What will you learn?

  • recall, recognize and demonstrate understanding of the concepts, roles, events, artefacts and expanded guidance outlined in the syllabus, including terms used, process steps and roles involved.

 

Demonstrate this understanding in the context of their accountabilities for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the Scrum Team and effectively managing the Product Backlog which includes:

  • Developing and explicitly communicating the Product Goal
  • Creating and clearly communicating Product Backlog items
  • Ordering Product Backlog items
  • Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood.

 

Demonstrate this understanding in the context of helping:

  • Scrum Teams: Coaching the team members in self-management and cross-functionality; Helping the Scrum Team focus on creating high-value Increments that meet the Definition of Done.
  • Product Owners: Helping find techniques for effective Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management; Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items; Helping establish empirical product planning for a complex environment; and, Facilitating stakeholder collaboration as requested or needed.
  • The wider organisation: Leading, training, and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption; Planning and advising Scrum implementations within the organization; Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact an empirical approach for complex work; Removing barriers between stakeholders and Scrum Teams.

Delivery

If you attend face-to-face in a classroom or remotely:

  • 3 day courses are full days from 9:30am – 5:30pm on weekdays
  • Day 1 –Understanding Scrum –Lecture and exercises
  • Day 2 –focused on Product Owner context
  • Day 3 -Scrum Master context – Simulation
  • Seating will be spaced out appropriately to ensure the social distancing measures. Measures are put in place to ensure safety of all classroom attendees.
  • You will need a computer, a microphone and a camera for an engaging course interaction (remote attendance).

Exam

You can take the 2 exams at the end of the course or at a convenient time.

If you attend remotely, you can take the exam from your home using an online proctor (invigilator) – we book a day with the exam provider and then you finalise the specific date and time with the remote proctor. The price does not include the exam cost. The exam fee for each exam is £117+VAT.

Exam format: 40-minute ‘closed book’ multiple-choice exams. 50 multiple choice questions in each exam. The pass mark is 37/50 for each exam.
