About the course

Overview

The BCS Foundation Certificate in Digital Solution Development is an introductory level qualification intended to give a broad coverage of the many topics affecting Digital Solution Development (DSD) in a modern enterprise setting. It covers topics in the development space between Business Analysis and the coding environment.

Gain a broad understanding of the terminology, concepts, techniques, standards, frameworks and processes involved in the development of modern digital software applications.

This new syllabus addresses the modernised working environment, giving candidates up to date knowledge and skills and provides them with a steppingstone to further learning.

  • Digital service definition.
  • User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI).

  • Digital Solution acquisition, deployment and maintenance.

Yes, this course is accredited by BCS, The British Computer Society. Metadata Training is an accredited BCS partner and you can trust that the qualification you receive is recognised in the industry by employers. 

We recommend you do some pre-reading as this will help you to get the most out of the course. As soon as you book you will get access to our online learning so you can start preparing for the course. You will also receive the BCS business analysis book for free when you book your first BCS course with us.  

As soon as you book and pay for the course we will give you access to our online portal where you can access the pre-reading and training material. If you attend a virtual course we will also provide recordings of the virtual course you attended. 

The course is taught face-to-face at our training venue near Old Street station and remotely via Zoom. You can choose to attend remotely or in a classroom when you book the course.  For in-house or bespoke courses or for our business analyst apprenticeship we can also run the courses remotely using Microsoft Teams. Our virtual courses are highly interactive and are run by a highly skilled trainer with real-world business analyst experience using Zoom and Miro virtual boards. 

Yes if you enrol in our Business Analyst Apprenticeship - a programme who helps you or your team progress in your role and not just get certified.

Yes, you can cancel a course but in order to do so without penalty, we require 10 working days notice. For more information on our cancellation policy, see our terms and conditions.

No, the course assumes you have no experience on the topics of the course. Anyone can attend the course.

No, none of our courses requires you to have IT skills.

The exams are taken online, a member of the Metadata team will invigilate, and we will provide the exam slots (weekdays, during office hours) to choose from on the last day of the course. Candidates have up to 2-months to take their exam after attending the training, and after this period, the exam fee will apply. 

If a candidate fails an exam, a resit fee is to be paid, and our trainers will give a free feedback and recap session. 

An extra time of 15mins is given if English is not your first language or with reasonable adjustments. Please inform us upon making a booking.

The exam is closed-book with 40 multiple-choice questions, and a duration of 60-mins.

The exam assumes you have no experience, so if you have experience it will be less challenging however we’ve seen high pass rates over the last year. If you don’t pass the exam then you’re able to retake it straight away. You can retake the exam as many times as you need to, and we’re always here to offer extra support to anyone that needs it. We pride ourselves on our high pass rate, and for whatever the reason you didn’t pass, we’ll make sure that you do the second time! The best way to ensure you pass is to follow our trainers advice and ask as many questions in class. Unlike other providers we keep our courses small in size so there is plenty of time for clarifications and to understand the theory. 

You can pay via our website with a card or bank transfer by selecting ‘Pay By Bank Transfer’ at the checkout. We accept Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro.
