About the course

Overview

The purpose of the ABC SPO qualification is to measure whether a candidate has sufficient knowledge and understanding of Agile Principles and the Scrum Guide, and a grasp of some fundamental techniques required to meet their accountabilities as described in the Scrum Guide.

The Product Owner is accountable for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the Scrum Team.

The 2-day Professional Scrum Product Owner course focuses on all of these areas to teach students how to maximize the value of software products and systems.

What will you learn?

  • Recall, recognize and demonstrate understanding of the concepts, roles, events, artefacts and expanded guidance outlined in the syllabus, including terms used, process steps and roles involved.

 

Demonstrate this understanding in the context of their accountabilities for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the Scrum Team and effectively managing the Product Backlog which includes:

  • Developing and explicitly communicating the Product Goal
  • Creating and clearly communicating Product Backlog items
  • Ordering Product Backlog items
  • Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood.

Who is this course for?

  • Individuals wishing to build their competence as a Scrum Product Owner either in preparation for taking on that role or as somebody already fulfilling the role who wants to ensure that they are meeting their accountabilities correctly.
  • Individuals accredited as Scrum Masters –with accountabilities to serve the Product Owner of their teams
  • Those with a need to understand how the Product Owner role work in reality will also benefit

What is included in the course price?

  • 2 full days of training
  • 14 Project Management Institute (PMI) PDUs
  • All materials and case studies with answer pointers
  • Refreshments each day (classroom training only)

Delivery

If you attend face-to-face in a classroom or remotely:

  • 2 day courses are full days from 9:30am – 5:30pm on weekdays
  • Day 1 –Understanding Scrum –Lecture and exercises
  • Day 2 –focused on Product Owner context
  • Seating will be spaced out appropriately to ensure the social distancing measures. Measures are put in place to ensure safety of all classroom attendees.
  • You will need a computer, a microphone and a camera for an engaging course interaction (remote attendance).

Exam

You can take the exam at the end of the course or at a convenient time.

If you attend remotely, you can take the exam from your home using an online proctor (invigilator) – we book a day with the exam provider and then you finalise the specific date and time with the remote proctor. The price does not include the exam cost. The exam fee is £117+VAT.

Exam format: 40-minute ‘closed book’ multiple-choice exam. 50 multiple choice questions. The pass mark is 37/50.

The Agile courses are 3 days on the weekend and 4 days during the week. The same material is covered in both courses but the weekend course is slightly more intense as it is 3 days instead of 4. The weekend course will begin at 9am and finish at 6.30pm and the midweek courses start at 9.30am and finish at 5pm.

Your employers can simply make a booking via our website by selecting the course and at the checkout section add the candidate details (full name, email address and contact number) at the bottom of the page under ‘Additional Information’ and we will confirm the booking with both parties.

Currently via remote online learning with a live trainer using Zoom and Miro virtual boards.

We've moved all our training sessions online, so you can learn in the comfort of your own home. Don't worry, we work with virtual whiteboards and break out rooms to ensure it's an interactive learning experience - just as it would be if you were training in-house.

When you book onto a course we will send you a copy of our core textbook Business Analysis. One week before the start of the course we will email you the chapters to read and any extra reading material you need. You will receive additional material (including slides and exam preparation) during the course.
