About the course

Design thinking is a process for solving problems by prioritising the consumer’s needs above all else. It relies on observing how people engage with a product or service, and employs an iterative, hands-on approach to creating innovative solutions.

Design thinking enables organisations to create lasting value for consumers. It:

  • Aims to solve a concrete human need
  • Tackles problems that are ambiguous or difficult to define
  • Leads to more innovative solutions
  • Makes organisations run faster and more efficiently

While design thinking originated with designers, the techniques and strategies belong at every level of a business. It’s useful to break down problems in any complex system, be it business, government, or social organisations.

In this practical and hands-on two-day course, you will appreciate the importance of design thinking in a business analysis context.

  • Work with stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary team to get tangible results
  • Apply people-oriented techniques from User Experience and Human Centred Design
  • Understand how to prototype business ideas
  • Create meaningful business cases based on reality, not wishful thinking
  • Take a solution-oriented approach without jumping to premature design conclusions
  • Know when to use divergent and convergent thinking
  • Develop and leverage empathy with customers and end-users
